SOMETIMES CHANGE IS STRUID

Ok have you all noticed this thing the government does where it moves long established holidays off of their traditional  days?
I just heard now they want to move Halloween.   At the rate things are going soon Christmas and new years day will be the only holidays that are still observed on the original date they were created.   It makes me wonder what ever happened to tradition?
I remember going to the cemetery to put flowers on my sister's grave on what mom called decoration.  Yes memorial day used to be called decoration.  I am thinking it may have been because you would decorate the graves of loved ones on that date.    And why was it changed?? The answer is so people could have a long weekend off from work by moving it to a Monday.   When I was a kid mom said it always frosts on memorial day so we never planted before memorial day, but I digress.
Anyone who knows anything about Halloween will know it started may years ago.   Story says it was the feast of
Samhain it was set for the night before all saints day.  The thinking behind the though to move it to a Saturday is that it will be safer for the children trick or treating, and there may be some truth in that.   On a Saturday it could be set earlier in the day and it would not be as dark out, but is the dark not part of the fun of Halloween?   Would it not be easier for the communities to set the trick or treating for a Saturday if many people want this rather then moving the whole holiday?  I just wonder what will be the next holiday to be moved Christmas itself ?   I think it is stupid and pointless to move a holiday once it has been set on a date.
Here is a for instance  for you what if someone tried to change your birthday?  They moved the date Washington was observed it is no longer on his birthday and Lincoln's birthday has been washed away. Now they call it presidents day and it is on a Monday so people can have longer weekends.   I do not think change is always a good thing if it washes away our traditions.
